Young girl injured in shooting at Walmart in Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - One person is injured after a shooting at the Walmart on the 2000 block of Whiskey Road.

The shooting occurred at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday, according to dispatch.

Upon arrival, officers found a young female victim with a gunshot wound. Officers with the Aiken Department of Public Safety rendered aid to the victim until EMS responded to the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to officers.

We spoke with a witness who chased the suspect out of the store before helping aid the victim.

Aiken Department of Public Safety and Aiken County Sheriff’s Office have both responded to the scene.

An officer from the Aiken Department of Public Safety said they don’t believe it is a targeted attack.

According to the Aiken Department of Public Safety, a suspect is in custody and there is no danger to the public.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
