GRANITEVILLE, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A fight at Midland Valley High School injured students and school employees, leading to a soft lockdown Friday at the campus in Aiken County.

The school said the morning altercation involved “a number of students.” By early afternoon, deputies and school officials said they’d identified about 10 teenagers who were involved.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said a school resource officer was on the campus and was notified of the fight, and he and the school staff got the fight under control.

Several students suffered minor injuries, and two employees were injured, according to the school.

After the fight, students were sent to their classrooms and the campus was placed on soft lockdown, while the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office sent additional law enforcement officers.

Administrators and law enforcement authorities were reviewing video footage to “ensure that all who are responsible are identified,” the school said.

There were no charges early Friday afternoon but the investigation was ongoing, according to deputies.

The school said it would share any further information that becomes available.
