AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Four lanes of Peach Orchard Road at Brown Road were closed due to damaged power poles which caused power lines to cross all lanes of traffic.

On Friday afternoon, Richmond County deputies started rerouting all northbound traffic of Peach Orchard Road to Willis Foreman Road, and southbound traffic to Boykin Road. Georgia Power is estimated the repairs would cause a two- to three-hour delay for traffic.

Later Friday evening, deputies said that Georgia Power was finished with the poles and lines repair, however, AT&T and Comcast are currently still working on fixing their lines and estimate it will be six hours for all work to be completed.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) has provided signs, cones, and personnel to aid with traffic diversion and rerouting. RCSO personnel will be assisting DOT at some of these intersections as well.

Deputies advise drivers to use alternative routes and remember to slow down and use caution when driving in this area.
